40 days, a loss, and why I went quiet

Good New Day to you , Reader

You’re holding a lot right now. More roles than you can count on one hand, more responsibility than most people around you probably realize, and somewhere underneath all of it, maybe a quiet question you don’t say out loud:

“Is a whole, harmonious, simple life actually available to me… or is that just something other people get that I don’t”

You’ve done the impressive things. You’ve earned the seat. You know how to handle things. And still, some mornings, you feel more like the woman/man who runs everything (hello exhaustion) than the person who is fully themselves inside any of it.

So I want you to hear this: ease is not laziness. Rest is not falling behind. You’re allowed to be a whole person with depth and dimension, not just a highly capable human machine that produces all the flipping time.

I’m reminding you because, lately, life has been reminding me too.

It’s been a while since I wrote to you Reader. Longer than I meant. And instead of me casually popping back into your inbox like I haven’t been gone, I want to tell you where I’ve been.

Two things kept me quiet. One I didn’t choose. One I did.

The one I didn’t: for a stretch of time, my emails kept landing in spam, and I refused to keep shouting from inside a room you’d never open. So if this reached your actual inbox, Wooowhoooo YESS.😆

Would you do one small thing for me? Hit reply with a single word to this email, even just “ Hey Chica ” ok 2 words lol. It tells your email provider I’m someone you actually want to hear from and helps keep me out of the spam graveyard going forward. 🙌🏾

The other silence was one I chose.

On July 6th, my father died, one day before my business turned nineteen. I had a whole thing planned to celebrate with you and my clients, but, I followed my gut and stepped fully away for 40- days to honor my father. No posting, no fancy post/video, no creating for anyone’s algorithm. I didn't try to make grief productive or turn it into a lesson before I had actually lived through it. (still living through it btw)

I just let myself be.

And if you know Scripture, you know 40 is not a random number. There is wilderness in 40. Preparation. Transition. The space between what was and whatever comes next.

I came back only when I was truly ready.

since we last connected I welcomed 5 new clients into their next level through full personal re-brands. 2 have doubled their income in less than 6 months and another is about to publish her book. Watching them step more fully into who they are becoming has been incredible.

And I started something tender and new: Notes on Being Human- my Substack about exactly that. Being human, with depth, curiosity and observations. I'd love to have you there.

But none of those things were the biggest shift.

The quiet gave me myself back. Because Grief has a way of providing clarity you never saw coming.

I stopped taking a single voice for granted, including my own. And I know who I am now (differently) in a way I can’t unknow.

That sentence means something different to me today.

Because once you really recognize yourself, you begin to notice all the places where your life hasn't caught up yet.

Maybe you've felt that too.

You’ve changed. Your standards have changed. Your desires, boundaries, priorities and definition of a good life may have changed. But parts of your work, relationships, brand or just the way you move through the world may still be expressing a version of you that you've already legit outgrown.

That gap has a name, I call it: Identity Latency™.

It’s the space between who you’ve actually become and how you’re still showing up in the world.

And I created something simple to help you see yours.

My free Identity Latency™ Audit is a short, quiet assessment that helps you identify where the person you’ve become and the life you’re expressing may no longer match.

It might make you a little uncomfortable in the useful way Reader. Because sometimes clarity starts when someone finally gives you the language for something you’ve been feeling for ages.

And once you can see the gap, you can decide what you're ready to do about it.

If the audit stirs something deeper, reply “clarity.” My Radical Clarity® Session is where you and I spend two private hours getting radically clear on who you are now, what matters now, and what needs to shift so your life can actually reflect it.

It’s good to be back Reader. I mean that.

Thank you for keeping my seat warm.

With clarity + purpose,

Yetunde

LIVE THROUGH PURPOSE® 🖤

P.S. That one-word reply genuinely helps me reach you. Even if today isn't the day for the audit, hit reply and say “Hey Chica”. I read every single email from this circle.

Good morning Reader. Story time. So in college, Junior Year, Loyola University Chicago, I remember one evening, I was working on a project and I needed something designed and the person I was asking to help me do it was legit posing for me 🙄. I can't stand posers. If you can't do it just say so. The Shakara a.k.a posing is not going to make me beg. I really needed this thing done for one of my classes so I called another friend and he told me about photoshop. This was in 1998. I said "what is...

Good morning Reader and if you celebrated Christmas, Merry Christmas. If you didn't, Happy Tuesday to you.
